State Library Victoria La Trobe Reading Room Suburban Icon Poster
Founded in 1854 as the Melbourne Public Library, State Library Victoria is Australia's oldest public library and one of the first free libraries in the world.
Its showpiece is the La Trobe Reading Room. Opened in 1913, the octagonal room rises six storeys to a soaring dome, with space for 32,000 books and 320 readers at desks lit by those famous green lamps.
Hang it in a study or reading nook. Add a comfy chair, a cup of tea and a good book and you are set.
Choose from A4, A3, A2 or A1 to suit your space. This La Trobe Reading Room print from the Historic Prints Suburban Icons collection makes a meaningful gift and a lovely piece of Melbourne wall art.
