Built and licensed in 1889, the Middle Park Hotel on Canterbury Road has been the social heart of its neighbourhood for well over a century.

It hosted local committees, bowls clubs and lively "smoke nights", and original hostess Elizabeth Mahon became something of a local legend. After a rough patch in the 1950s, a 2009 renovation brought it back to life, complete with a dining room clad in English oak salvaged from the MCC Long Room.
